THE HOLIDAY 10 lb BLOAT!

The Holidays have arrived, and with the Holidays come lots of parties and lots of FOOD!

Did you know the average American gains 5 to 10 pounds between Thanksgiving and New Year’s Day!

Been there. Done that! Got the over-sized T-shirt!

Here are some simple tips to help insure come New Year’s Day that you aren’t suffering from THE HOLIDAY 10 POUND BLOAT!

1. Give up Hor d’oeuvres! The average Hor d’oeuvre is about 150 calories! How many do you have at a Holiday party BEFORE DINNER!??? Give up the Hor d’oeuvres and eat a normal dinner. You are much better off.

2. Plan in advance. If you are going to a Holiday party, decide in advance what you are going to eat. Are you going to have that cake? It’s ok, but NOT TWO PIECES. You don’t want to give up on the Holiday fun and be a party pooper, but you also don’t want to be as plump as a Sugar Plum! Make some sensible choices about how you are going to eat, and follow through.

3. Don’t forget to exercise, even if it is only an early morning walk. Exercise will burn some calories but most importantly, exercise will help you feel connected with your body, it will make you feel more physical, and when you feel connected and physical you will make healthier food choices.

4. Don’t tell anyone you are being responsible about your weight during the Holiday. People will try to sabotage your efforts if you let them know what you are doing for they will feel you are spoiling their fun. Make a commitment to yourself and yourself alone (or to your Personal Trainer) and make healthy food and exercise choices but don’t blab about it.

5. Enjoy your food. Eat healthy, delicious food and allow yourself foods you really love, only be balanced about it.
If you deprive yourself of what you love, you will end up EATING IT ALL!!!

6. Lastly, Stop.

Stop if you feel you are going out of control. Just stop. Make some better choices. Don’t poison yourself and your best intentions with unconscious eating. Just stop. Leave the room for a moment, and come back centered.
Remember, you always have choice. In any given moment in time, you can stop and make a new choice. Take control of your body, your life and your holiday!

Wishing you the greatest holiday ever!
